The good news is that you probably don't need to measure anything.
SipStrainer™ was designed to fit a wide range of common drinkware, including most standard 16 oz cups, pint glasses, and similarly sized glasses. Just clip it onto the rim, add your ice and drink, and you're ready to go.
Why We Created a Fit Guide
Because cups and glasses come in all shapes and sizes, we created a simple sizing guide for anyone who wants to double-check a particular piece of drinkware.
The measurements are a guide — not something you need to check every time you use SipStrainer.
If you're using a typical pint glass, 16 oz cup, or similarly sized piece of drinkware, there's a good chance you can simply clip it on and enjoy your drink.

The shape and dimensions of a cup can vary, so fit isn't determined by its advertised capacity alone. That's why we've provided the sizing guide above for anyone who wants to check a specific glass.
How Does SipStrainer™ Work?
SipStrainer™ clips onto the rim of your glass and creates a barrier that helps hold ice back as you tilt the glass to drink.
Your beverage can flow through the openings while the ice stays behind.
There's no lid to screw on and no complicated setup. Simply clip it onto a compatible glass and drink normally.
It's especially useful if you enjoy lots of ice but don't enjoy having that ice suddenly rush toward your mouth every time you take a drink.
Do I Need to Measure Every Cup?
No.
The fit measurements are primarily there to give you an additional reference.
We don't want people looking at our sizing guide and thinking SipStrainer™ only works with one exact size of glass. It doesn't.
It was designed to work with a range of common drinkware.
If you have an unusually shaped, particularly wide, narrow, shallow, or thick-rimmed glass, that's when checking the measurements can be helpful.
Otherwise, clip it on and see how it fits.
Why Not Just Use a Straw?
You certainly can!
SipStrainer™ isn't intended to make straws obsolete. It's simply another way to enjoy an iced drink.
Some people prefer drinking directly from a glass. SipStrainer™ lets you do that while helping prevent the pile of ice in your drink from sliding forward with every sip.
